Ristorante Sempione – Authentic Venetian Dining with Cozy Canal Views in San Marco, Venice

My daughter and I traveled from New York and stopped by Ristorante Sempione in Venice for a late lunch — and it was so amazing that we went back again for dinner the same day! The food was incredible, but what truly made our experience unforgettable was our waiter, Alessandro. Not only was the service excellent, but Alessandro’s wine and food recommendations were absolutely phenomenal. He has such a warm, genuine personality — truly a people person who makes you feel right at home. His attention to detail and passion for what he does really elevated our entire dining experience. If you’re in Venice, this is a must-visit restaurant. Ask for Alessandro — you won’t be disappointed!

This was hands down the best food that we’ve had in Venice! Ristorante Sempione has a beautiful and cozy location, the pasta was absolutely perfect and the staff were incredibly nice, attentive and welcoming! Would recommend for anyone to try this place!

The food was absolutely delicious! We had some amazing fish and delicious pasta. We sat with a lovely view of the little canal, which was simply perfect — especially with a glass of fine wine. We were warmly welcomed and well taken care of by Tony, who even took some beautiful photos and videos for us! A big thank you for this wonderful experience.

I arrived round 7:25 pm and was seated in the back near the canal. I ordered the carbonara and sautéed spinach. The carbonara was a most unappetizing one; the meat part was neither guanciale nor pancetta. It looked and tasted like something coming out of a can. The spinach was decent. I do not recommend this trattoria.

We liked absolutely everything. It was my husband's birthday and we had a luck to seat on a balcony with a beautiful view on the canal. Despite the staff doesn't reserve tables on balconies, we waited for some 15 minutes until we got our table. The food was good, I ordered pasta with shrimps and truffle, it was really tasty. My husband got tagliata di manzo, the meat was soft and good. The view is absolutely fantastic. The staff is very friendly! I highly recommend this place. Thank you so muchWe will come again

Food was excellent, fresh ingredients, big portions. The service was really good. View is average as the only tables by the windows are 2 seaters so if more than 2 you will not be enjoying a canal view. Would recommend it for a quality dinner.

The entire experience was simply wonderful, starting with the incredible food. We ordered three different dishes, and every single one was super good—the taste is truly unforgettable! ​The service matched the quality of the food. Our server was such a polite and friendly gentleman who provided super nice service. While I regrettably forgot his name, you'll know exactly who he is when you visit: his smiling portrait photo is attached to a wall art inside the restaurant. He made our evening special! ​If you're visiting Venice and looking for an unforgettable meal, you simply must come here. A pro tip for couples: try to request a table on the terrace/balcony area. It adds an unforgettable romantic touch to the whole dining experience! Five stars!
